Ricky Martin has been charged with sexual assault after a similar case was dismissed.

After suing his nephew for allegedly extorting false claims, the Grammy Award winner, 50, was named in another complaint filed Friday at a police station in San Juan, Puerto Rico, Martin’s hometown, according to the Associated Press.

José Andréu-Fuentes’ attorney tells PEOPLE in a statement, “These allegations are outrageously offensive and completely disconnected from reality. When this man previously made similar allegations, his legal case had to be dropped — primarily because he himself admitted under oath that Ricky Martin had never assaulted him in any way.”

“Now, after suing Mr. Martin for attempted extortion, he is trying to spread his lies again. It is past time the media stopped giving this deeply troubled man the oxygen of publicity and allowed him to get the help he so clearly needs,” adds Andréu-Fuentes.

While the details of the allegations and the identity of the accuser are not public information, the AP reported that Rickey’s nephew, Dennis Yandiel Sanchez Martin — whose mother is Rickey’s sister — filed the new complaint, according to a source who she is not authorized to speak about the case.

They noted that the charges would not immediately warrant an arrest as the alleged incident is not recent and police will investigate whether charges are necessary, the agency said.

Dennis first filed for a domestic abuse restraining order against his uncle in July, though a rep for Ricky called the allegations “completely false and fabricated.”

The claim alleged that the pair had been romantically involved for seven months and that Martin “did not accept” that the alleged relationship had ended two months earlier. Dennis said he “feared for his safety” and asked for the order.

Marty Singer, another of Ricky’s lawyers, told PEOPLE: “Unfortunately, the person who made this allegation is struggling with profound mental health challenges. Ricky Martin, of course, has never — and never would — engage in any kind of sexual or romantic relationship with his nephew.”

“The idea is not only untrue, it’s disgusting. We all hope this man gets the help he so urgently needs. But most of all, we look forward to seeing this awful case dismissed once a judge looks at the facts,” he added. Singer.

Later that month, a judge dismissed the case at Dennis’ request. “We are pleased that our client has seen justice served and can now move forward with his life and career,” Ricky’s lawyer said in a statement.

The Pause + Play The artist has since filed a $20 million lawsuit against his nephew for extortion, malicious prosecution, misappropriation and damages.

In the lawsuit, Ricky claimed that Dennis made the false allegations after the singer unfollowed him on Instagram and “ignored” his requests to set up a social media page for Ricky’s children. Months before filing the original claim, Dennis allegedly shared Ricky’s phone number on social media, forcing him to change it.

Shortly after Dennis filed his lawsuit, he allegedly called Rickey’s legal team “in an attempt to negotiate a financial benefit in exchange for withdrawing his request” for the restraining order, according to the documents. Ricky’s lawyers didn’t oblige.
