Britney Spears’ son Jayden, 15, reveals why he didn’t attend her wedding: ‘I’m happy for them’

Britney Spears’ son explains why he didn’t attend her wedding to Sam Asghari.

In an interview with The Daily Mail to be shown on ITV on Friday, Jayden James, 15, explains how he and his brother Sean Preston, 16, made the decision not to attend their mum’s wedding in June.

“At the time, it just wasn’t the right time for me to leave. I’m not saying I’m not happy for her,” says Jayden, who appears in the interview with his father, Kevin Federline.

“I’m so happy for them, but he didn’t invite the whole family, and if it was just me and Preston, I just don’t see how this situation would have ended on good terms.”

Spears, 40, remains estranged from her family members, including parents Jamie and Lynne Spears and brothers Jamie Lynn and Bryan.

Jayden also opened up about the conflict between the pop star and her family, particularly her father.

“At first he was just trying to be like any father, letting go [his] The daughter was chasing her dream of becoming a superstar, but I thought maybe the conservative service took too long. Probably because my mom was very angry about the whole working too long situation — I personally think she was. He needed to take a break and relax,” she says.

Jaden goes on to say that his grandfather “doesn’t deserve all the hate he gets” and that despite Britney’s claims, he doesn’t find the extended Spears family to be “manipulative.”

“They’re not bad people. They know what we’re going through now. They want our future to be what we want it to be,” Jayden says. “They just want to look out for us. Memaw and Uncle Bryan are a good part of our lives. They’ve taught me how to deal with things.”

Hours after the interview was published, Britney responded in a statement on her Instagram, where she sent her son “all the love in the world to you every day for the rest of my life!!!!”

“My love for my children knows no bounds and it saddens me deeply to know his outcry that I did not live up to his expectations of a mother… and maybe one day we can come face to face and talk about it openly!! ! !”

Continuing to explain how hard she’s worked and endured to give her children everything they have, Britney added: ‘It’s horrible to see your dad being a hypocrite and saying the media is horrible but you talk to them personally issues!! !”

Britney then urged her son to “look in the mirror and remember… you are my child and you always will be!!!!”

“Keep playing your gift on the piano… you and your brother are both amazing and I’m so proud to call you both mine,” the pop star added before noting that her sons don’t understand her feelings about with her mental health and maintaining her health.

Adding that if her son couldn’t go along with what she claims her family put her through conservatorship, the pop star concluded, “then yes, I’ve failed as a mother.”

The day before Spears married Asghari on June 10, Mark Vincent Kaplan, Federline’s longtime attorney, confirmed to PEOPLE that the boys would not be in attendance.

“They are happy for their mom and are optimistic that Sam and Britney are starting a great future together,” she says. “It’s their night and they didn’t want to be taken away.”
