Get ready to get weird!
The first trailer for Weird: The Al Yankovic Story it fell on monday. And in true Weird Al fashion, the Daniel Radcliffe-led film looks set to offer a unique take on the biopic genre.
“I’m sick of people thinking I’m some kind of joke,” Radcliffe’s Yankovic says in the trailer, before confessing his lifelong dream to his friends. “All my life, all I’ve wanted to do is put new words into a song that already exists.”
“Ah… well, that’s what you have to do!” one hilariously replies in the clip.
From there, we see Yankovic begin making ‘My Bologna’, the 1983 parody of The Knack’s 1979 hit ‘My Sharona’. Soon, the crowds are cheering for Jankovic and Madonna (played by Evan Rachel Wood) shows up at his mansion.
“I was wondering if you would do a parody of my song, ‘Like a Virgin’? he asks, before telling him the song is autobiographical “apart from the fact that I’ve had a lot of sex.”
Their uneasy relationship, and the impact it has on him, is just one of the things depicted in the film.
“Meet the icon who changed music – literally,” says the film’s tagline.

Produced by Funny or Die and Tango and scheduled to air on The Roku Channel, Weird: The Al Yankovic Story promises to take audiences on a truly incredible journey through Jankovic’s life and career, from charismatic child prodigy to the greatest musical legend of all time, according to a popular press release earlier this year.
“The biopic holds nothing back, exploring every aspect of Yankovic’s life, from his meteoric rise to fame with early hits like ‘Eat It’ and ‘Like a Surgeon’ to his torrid celebrity romances and famously depraved his way of life,” the statement says.
PEOPLE exclusively debuted the first official photo of Radcliffe in costume as Yankovic in February.
