Britney Spears’ mom, Lynne, responds after the singer’s scathing post

Britney Spears’ mother, Lynne Spears, responded to the singer’s shocking message and begged to meet “face to face, privately” with her daughter.

On Sunday night, Britney released a 22-minute raw voice memo about her conservative position and called it all “rigged.” The superstar claimed that a woman “brought the idea” of getting legally engaged to her father, Jamie Spears, “and my mom helped him go through and did everything… There were no drugs in my system, no alcohol, nothing. It was pure abuse.” The singer added at one point that she felt “angrier” at her mother than at her father.

This certainly isn’t the first time Britney has slammed her family, or Lynne in particular, but it’s the first time fans have heard her speak out about alleged maintenance abuse since that heartbreaking hearing last year. It didn’t take long for Lynne to publicly respond online where, ironically, she asked to meet up.

“Britney, all your life I’ve tried to support your dreams and desires! And I’ve also tried to help you out of hardship!” Lynne captioned a black and white photo of herself with the “Toxic” singer. “I will never turn my back on you! Your rejections of the countless times I’ve thrown out and calls make me feel hopeless! I’ve tried everything.”

Lynne declared her love for Britney, but noted that “this conversation is just for you and me.”

Britney didn’t respond to her mom — but she had plenty to say around the same time as that post about Elton John. Britney teamed up with the music legend for “Hold Me Closer,” her first new song in six years that already hit No. 1. The singer called John “beautiful and kind in every way” and said that she is “honored” by his “awareness and recognition, not just of me being involved with a song, but of my struggles and what I’ve been through.”

Britney had much kinder words for John than she did for her family.

In the now-deleted voice memo posted on YouTube, Britney explained how she ended up in the conservative service for nearly 14 years. “I literally spoke with a British accent to a doctor to prescribe my medication and three days later, there was a SWAT team at my house,” the singer claimed. In 2008, Britney was involuntarily placed in 5150 psychiatric custody. Paparazzi happened to be at the singer’s house and captured her coming out in a dressing room for the world to see. The entertainer claimed the whole thing was “premeditated”.

Britney said she was upset with Lynne because of how her mom allegedly handled the media frenzy. “I heard when the journalists were calling her [Lynne] at the time and asking questions about what was going on, she was innocently hiding in the house and not talking,” Britney said. “It was always, ‘I don’t know what to say. I just don’t want to say the wrong thing. We are praying for her.”

However, Britney didn’t hold back when it came to her father. When she was forced into a mental health facility in 2019, the singer claimed Jamie threatened her.

“I remember my dad calling me on the phone, and I was crying, and I said, ‘Why are you doing this?’ he said. “And I remember him just saying ‘You have to listen to the doctors, the doctors will tell you what to do, I can’t help you now… You don’t have to go. But if you don’t go, we’ll go to court and there’s a big trial and you’re going to lose. I’ve got a lot more people on my side than you. You don’t even have a lawyer. So don’t think about it.”

Britney added: “They put me in an ignorant state of mind to make me feel like I needed them.”

Yahoo Entertainment reached out to Jamie’s lawyer for comment, but did not immediately hear back.

“They literally killed me. They dumped me. That’s how I felt. My family dumped me,” Britney added.
