Britney Spears Makes Official Music Return With Throwback Elton John Duet ‘Hold Me Closer’

The princess of pop is back!

On Friday, Britney Spears and Elton John unveiled their long-awaited new duet “Hold Me Closer,” which combines the chorus of John’s 1972 smash “Tiny Dancer” and lyrics from his 1992 single “The One” with a fresh, dance -pop production. — and marks Spears’ first release since ending her 13-year conservative tenure.

Ahead of its official debut, John, 75, previewed “Hold Me Closer” from the speakers of a Cannes restaurant during a live stream on Instagram, which has since been re-uploaded to the “Rocket” singer’s IG grid Man”. Earlier this month, the iconic music couple unveiled the single artwork “Hold Me Closer,” featuring childhood photos of Spears, 40, wearing a pink dance outfit and John playing the piano, respectively.

“Hold Me Closer” marks John’s second recent collaboration reimagining his previous hits following last year’s “Cold Heart (PNAU Remix)” with Dua Lipa, which combines 1972’s “Rocket Man,” “Where’s the Shoorah? ” 1983’s ‘Kiss’ 1983. Bride’ and 1989’s ‘Sacrice’.

The duet is Spears’ first release since her 2020 reissue Glorywhich included three previously unheard songs – “Mood Ring”, “Swimming in the Stars” and “Matches” with Backstreet Boys – recorded for its original release in 2016.
