Three years after getting engaged, Sarah Hyland and Wells Adams are officially newlyweds!
The Modern family alum, 31, and Bachelor in Paradise The 38-year-old bartender tied the knot in an outdoor ceremony on Saturday, Aug. 20, at Sunstone Winery near Santa Barbara, Calif., a source confirms to PEOPLE.
The couple was surrounded by family and friends, including Hyland Modern family Starring Nolan Gould, Sofia Vergara (bringing her son, Manolo Vergara), Julie Bowen and Jesse Tyler Ferguson (with husband, Justin Mikita).

The pair first flirted on Twitter in 2016, but didn’t meet until the fall of 2017. (Adams later confirmed that she first met Hyland through social media.)
Before Hyland and Adams were paired, she had opened up about her not-so-secret crush on him during his time vying for JoJo Fletcher’s heart in season 12 The Bachelorette in 2016.
The couple surprised fans by dressing up as a couple Stranger Things costume for Halloween 2017. They then spent time together at his base in Nashville and hers in Los Angeles, documenting their adventures on Snapchat and Instagram.
He even planned a week-long birthday celebration for Hyland that included a date at Disneyland. In December 2017, they chose and decorated their first Christmas tree together.

Adams proposed to Hyland in the summer of 2019 after nearly two years of dating. The couple originally planned to marry in August 2020, but delayed the wedding several times due to concerns about COVID-19 amid the pandemic.
In August 2021, Adams told PEOPLE that he and Hyland were “hoping” to tie the knot in 2022 — but also teased that they would “go to Vegas or the courthouse” to tie the knot if another setback struck.
“We were supposed to get married last year obviously, that didn’t happen. We were supposed to get married this year, that didn’t happen,” the Bachelor in Paradise the bartender told PEOPLE at the time.
He added, “Well now hopefully next year, or we’ll go to Vegas, or to court, I don’t know — well, we’re not going to do those last two things, but I don’t 2022 has to be our year, right ?”

Last month, Hyland spoke with PEOPLE about her wedding day and what she’s most looking forward to when it comes to married life.
“We’re practical,” he said. “We have a house together. We have our dogs together and we’ve been celebrating this journey of life supporting each other for almost five years now. So I don’t think much will change.”
Hyland also insisted she was planning for the couple’s special day “one step at a time” and “didn’t really have a lot of time to think about it.”
“I’m really excited to — on paper, officially — start our family,” she added.
